Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just woke up, gave Dave a hug, told him "Happy Thanksgiving!" I went to the kitchen, straighted up a bit, and put some yummy, delicious cinnamon rolls in the oven to make the house smell good. Now, I am checking my emails and various sites to see what's going on with friends and family. I'm sitting here thinking about how much I have, how many wonderful things I get to do each day, and how many amazing things I've done already in my short (28) years.

I am writing this because I am so thankful for everything in my life. Of course I am thankful for family. Whether good or bad, they get you through life and make you stronger. I have THE MOST AMAZING friends in the whole entire universe. I couldn't get much luckier there. I finally have a career that I LOVE, and at the school of my dreams. I have been pretty well educated and worked very hard at that as well.

All in all I think I have it pretty good. I could complain about things I don't have, or things I want. I could be negative about things that don't go my way. However, over time I've learned that things often don't go your way for a reason, and it's usually a good one. I could complain because I get home and night and all I want to do is hear silence and not see another piece of paper, but (even though this sounds incredibly corny) I have a home to come home to, and I have job that makes me work hard, and use my talents. There really is nothing to complain about at all.

This week has taught me many things. At school, the students did a reading comprehension lesson on The First Thanksgiving. First of all, it taught me that they don't listen very well. :) Did you know that Thanksgiving now occurs on the First Tuesday of April? Hmmm .... I guess someone forgot to read the part about it being declared the Fourth Thursday of November. :) BUT, Thanksgiving first happened because the Pilgrims wanted to give thanks for their harvest, and all of the blessings in their life. They wanted to thank the men and woman that had helped them obtain these fortunes.

So, on this Thanksgiving, I would like everyone to know how truly thankful I am for them. Every single person that has come into my life has been there for a reason. Good or bad, WONDERFUL or sad. Thank you to everyone who has helped me become who I am today. I am counting my blessings today ... are you?

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving whether you are with tons of people or by yourself... I am thankful for you!!

When Dreams Come True ...

SO ... after a LOT of hard work and a LOT of dedication ... I have finally been handed my dream on a silver platter.

YES, you guessed correctly ... I am now a FULL TIME TEACHER!! and at the school of my dreams no less!!

A new Fourth grade class needed to be added and I was given the offer to step up and take on "the big kids!" This is what I have been waiting for my ENTIRE life!! It's going to be difficult at first, but I am so up for the challenge. It's only been two weeks, so I am hoping the kids won't have a hard time adjusting to someone new.

I start Monday, the 15th, giving me ... oh ... hmm .. 2 school days to get ready!! Everyone at school is AMAZING and have already helped me out so much. For those of you who remember, I student taught in Fourth grade, SO, I am already familiar with the teachers and most of the curriculum.

Many people thought I was crazy for taking on the part time Kindergarten position. BUT in my heart, I knew there was a reason I was doing it. Something big told me I wouldn't be disappointed for long. AND ... now ... my feelings have been validated ... and it's a pretty amazing feeling.

Thank you to everyone who supports me through everything. I know I say it often ... but I do TRULY have THE BEST FRIENDS IN THE WORLD!!!!

I'm off to start the beginning of BUSY BUSY year!!

It's been too long.

I know it's been a really long time since I have written anything. It just always slips my mind. There has been soo much going on in my life lately.

I just finished working summer school. I was approached to teach First Grade ESL (English as a Second Language). It was fun, but a definite challenge. Not sure if it's something I'd like to pursue in the future. We'll see.

Dave and I just got back from a surprise trip to Erie, Pennsylvania. It's a long story, but it was a great weekend, where we met A LOT of great people. It's a weekend I won't soon forget. Especially the 11 hour car trip home.

My dad and I are leaving tomorrow for a few days visiting family. We are flying into New Orleans, and then driving into Biloxi. The main purpose of our trip is to visit with my grandmother who is having a tough time remembering things and people. We figured this would be the best time to go see her. I can't wait, not only to fly, but to see family and just get away and have fun. My dad has a lot of things planned for us to do. I'm excited.

I return home on Monday, and my full time job search continues .....

I've had a few interviews and haven't gotten anything. I accepted going back to Galaxy next year, but only as a fall back. Everyone seems pretty confident I'll get full time somewhere, but it's not looking so good lately.

Hope everyone is well. I'll write more when dad and I get home. :)

It's beginning to look a lot like ...

C H R I S T M A S ! !

So it's been awhile since I have written.  A lot has been going on.  Trying to survive the job.  I love my kids, but it's a little stressful.  We are moving to the new school soon, new rooms, and a new director ... too much new for me all at one time.  The rooms are amazing!!  They are big and spacious and very kid friendly.  The best part .... they are set aside for my program, which means, they are basically our rooms to do whatever we want with.  I can't wait.

I've been really under the weather for awhile now.  A little depressed maybe?  I don't know.  I thought I had pink eye, I have been fighting a headache, and just overall feel drained.  Christmas break cannot come soon enough.

I need to get a full time job soon.  It's a must.  I need more money and I need more time in the classroom.

I love Christmas!!  Dave and I got our own tree last weekend.  I'm just now realizing what a Scrooge he is, but we are dealing.  Who doesn't want a Christmas tree??  ANYWAY.  Our tree is very nice.  I can't wait to feel well enough to decorate it.  That's something I'd like to enjoy.  I can't wait until there are presents under it too.  There won't be many this year, but that's okay.  (another reason for another job)

I hope all is going well with everyone.  Christmas is such a wonderful time of year.  Yes, people are busy shopping and running around crazy ... but everyone is usually in a good mood, music is exciting, and there is soo much of everything.  I LOVE IT!   Christmas is for sure my favorite time of year.  I love to celebrate.

Well I am going to go try to feel better.  It stinks not feeling well.  But I'd rather feel icky now, then feel icky over the holiday (as usual).   Hope this season finds everyone happy and healthy.  Hope to hear from everyone soon.

Love to all!!!

Please help ....

my new class!!

I am doing the Scholastic Book Club this year with my kids.  I am hoping to get a good turn out, however, money does seem to be an issue with everyone these days.

Anyway ... I have included the link and information needed if you would like to go on-line and browse the catalogs for books.  They are awesome (affordable) books and you will be helping my class in return .... every order you make gives us points toward FREE books for our classroom.  I have heard of teachers saving the points and allowing students to pick books for Christmas or the end of the year.  That is my ultimate goal.  I'd like to give books as presents to the students.  This also brightens the day of the children whose parents won't buy books for them at all.  It's really pretty cool.

All you have to do is go to this site:

www.scholastic.com/parent ordering
Class User Name: MsMorrisGalaxy
Password: galaxyisfun

If you do choose to order anything, the order will come to me at school, but I'll find a way to get it to you.

Thank you for reading my post ... and hopefully considering making a few purchases.  I'll be doing this every month ... so check the scholastic parent site for new catalogs.

Scholastic books make a wonderful gift for any young family members, in fact, I used to order them for my nieces and nephew.  Christmas is coming .....   :)

Anyway .... have a great rest of the week and I'll talk to you soon!!

P.S.  The due date for the September/October orders is October 5th ... right after pay day!!  :)
(Look for November's catalog to be listed early October...)
